During December’s Art Basel Miami, local retailer Alchemist is
partnering with Parisian concept store Colette for a one-week-only
“Art Drive-Thru,” offering exclusive pieces from some of the creative
industry’s biggest names.
Between the Art Deco architecture and South Beach’s striking coastline,
contemporary art fair Miami Beach Art Basel lights up Miami Beach each
December. This year, the event is preparing to celebrate its 12th anniversary
this year and over on the other side of the Atlantic in Paris, Colette is
partnering up with Miami‘s Alchemist to mark the milestone. The Miami
beach concept store is known for its highly specialized product selection
and its innovative CarPark designed by Herzog & de Meuron has become
one of Miami‘s architectural must-sees. From December 2 to 8, the two
stores will be hosting a temporary drive-thru created by René Gonzales
Architect, the man behind Alchemist‘s glass cube boutique (where work
by New York artist Kehinde Wiley will be on display during the Art Basel).
The experience will see shopping delivered to customer’s cars in the style of an
American drive-in, however instead of burgers and milkshakes, customers can
expect a selection of pieces selected by colette, Alchemist and some of the
biggest names in art and culture including Zaha Hadid, Kehinde Wiley,
Daniel Arsham, Julia Chang and Chrome Hearts. On the fashion side of
things Julien David, Maison Kitsuné and Olympia Le-Tan have designed
a selection of items exclusively for the event. We’ve even heard whispers that
Happy Meal boxes containing Keith Haring coloring books that once
belonged to Richard Prince will be among the pieces.
Colette Art Drive-Thru At Alchemist will be open from
December 2-8, 2013, at 1111 Lincoln Road.
