The October 24th will go down in the annals as the Giorgio
Armani Day,Mayor Bloomberg’s decision considering Armani
long-term relationship with the Big Apple, his active participation
in the local economy and its support for public schools.
At 7 pm, he opened the doors of Superpier, the large pier on the Hudson
River, for his One Night Only New York. This event opened the Eccentric
exhibition, an evocative installation of clothes and accessories from
1985 until today (it will remain open to the public until Sunday, 27)and he
presented for the first time in Manhattan a glittering parade in which more
than 100 looks were selected from all Prive Haute Couture collections.
Along the 85 meters walkway, the show was divided into thematic chapters
from Lumiere de la unit a la Lune, from Eclats de pierres to Hommage
to Japon- and had its grand finale with the autumn winter Prive Nude
fashion show. An exceptional parterre enjoyed the show : Martin Scorsese
Leo Di Caprio,Jeremy Irons,Glenn Close,Naomi Watts, Lauren
Hutton, Hillary Swank, Ricky Martin, Stephen Dorff ,Dawn
Rorhwacher, Saverio Costanzo, Pappi Corsica , Paolo Sorrentino .
Finally, a cocktail party and music by DJ Marc Ronson, all in a range of
environments completely revolutionized by the touch of the brand.Twelwe
working days in order to recreate with beige suede panels , carpet, round
mirrors , sofas and low lacquer tables, the Armani Casa’s spirit and
magically erase the feeling of a rusty industrial pier and former bus depot
that,after this makeover , it is destined to become in less than two years
a multi-purpose center with boutiques and restaurants.
