Forever Now by
After Peter Lindbergh, Inez & Vinoodh and Mert & Marcus,
it’s the turn of Bruce Weber to capture the elegance of
Charlotte Casiraghi for Gucci for the fourth and final wave
of the campaign that focuses on the mythic Bamboo bag.
Created in 1947 in the brand’s Florence ateliers, the iconic
model is characterized by a hand-curved bamboo handle.
Inspired by riding saddles and made up of an impressive
130 individual pieces, the piece is triumph of artisan
expertise with full assembly requiring two full days of
meticulous work. Thanks to its elegant, feminine design,
the bag quickly became a favorite among royalty and the
1940s fashion set, with the likes of Grace Kelly and Ingrid
Bergman helping to ensure the its status as an iconic accessory.
