Under the dress

Under the dress, the mechanics of fashion

(La mécanique des dessous, une histoire de la indiscreet silhouette)

is on display from July 4 to November 24, 2013 in Paris,

at the Museum Les Arts Decoratifs

The exhibition features more than 200 pieces, not only the world but also female the male

universe with his quest for manhood, with an eye also with children’s clothes. In 1900 with

Nicole Groult, Paul Poiret and Madeleine Vionnet is discovered the convenience and beauty

of the natural line. But these devices never disappear altogether. They return to the catwalk

thanks to designers such as Thierry Mugler, Rei Kawakubo, Christian Lacroix,

Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano. Fashion designers are able to bring back to life

treasures of the past in a contemporary version. On display, among others, an eccentric headgear and immense crinoline Jean Paul Gaultier, belonging to the Fall Winter

2008 2009. And a dress by Comme des Garcons, Spring Summer 2012, whose skirt is

made of 4 tournure. The exhibition also presents reproductions of moving that show the

mechanical ingenuity of these objects. A journey behind the scenes of the construction of the clothes.
