Last evening, June 24th, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini

and Lapo Elkann presented the MADE TO MEASURE capsule

collection, Lapo’s Wardrobe, at the House’s newly opened men’s

flagship. The boutique is Gucci’s first men’s flagship in Europe

and is located in the heart of Milan, the historic Brera district.

A party followed at the neighboring Palazzo Cusani.

The House’s first men’s flagship in Europe is located in the heart of Milan,

the historic Brera district, in front of the internationally renowned museum

Pinacoteca di Brera. The new shopping destination is surrounded by the

Milanese art district’s prestigious galleries, design boutiques, and antique

shops. Boasting a design concept by Creative Director Frida Giannini, the

Gucci men’s store spans more than 500 square meters across three floors and

features a dedicated area for the Made to Measure program: a personalized,

luxury sartorial offering for the modern day gentleman. Gucci’s Brera

store is the first to offer the capsule collection designed by Creative

Director Frida Giannini and Lapo Elkann, conceived as Lapo’s Wardrobe.

Designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini and Lapo Elkann, the MADE

TO MEASURE capsule collection, Lapo’s Wardrobe, is offered within

Gucci’s MADE TO MEASURE program. This unique creative collaboration

draws inspiration from Gucci’s Made in Italy tradition and sartorial expertise

for a new take on MADE TO MEASURE – encompassing menswear,

womenswear and accessories. The result is a series of ultra luxurious

designs in which Frida Giannini’s creative vision meets Lapo Elkann’s passion

for interpreting his own Italian legacy of style and sophistication. Over 80

textiles allow for more than 900 possible combinations between color, fabric,

and style. The collection is exclusively available at the House’s men’s flagship

in Milan’s Brera district and will become available this fall at the House’s

boutiques in New York, Paris, London, Sao Paulo, and Tokyo.

A lot of celebrities attend the event: Patrizio di Marco, Mario Boselli,

Coco Brandolini d’Adda, Luca Argentero and Myriam Catania, Nicolò

Cardi, Carlo Cracco, Delfina and Leonetta Delettrez Fendi, Ginevra

Elkann, Marta Ferri, Marta Marzotto, Giuseppe Modenese, Hide

Nakata, Remo Ruffini, Franca Sozzani, Gianbattista Valli.

GUCCI launch today 23rd June a new made-to-measure

collection, designed by creative director Frida Giannini in

partnership with Italian businessman Lapo Elkann. Entitled

Lapo’s Wardrobe, the personalised offering is described as

“a luxury sartorial service for the modern day gentleman”.

The 27-piece collection will comprise 23 looks for men and 4

for women - including leather goods, shoes and jewellery – and

offers a new take on Gucci’s existing made-to-measure offering.

The customer will be assisted by specialist staff through fabric

selection, to fitting, final touches and delivery – which will require

from four to six weeks. Each piece is customisable for a personal touch,

including the embossing of initials, while the range of luxury materials

allows for over 178 possible combinations of colours and fabrics.

“Gucci’s made-to-measure programme is the pinnacle of our Made in

Italy expertise and allows each man to express his own style impeccably,”

said Giannini. “Lapo perfectly embodies my vision of Italian style

as an attitude, an instinct to interpret fashion in an individual

yet sophisticated way. Lapo pays great attention to detail and

is never afraid to take risks.”

Lapo’s Wardrobe collection will be unveiled during the SS 2013

Milan menswear shows next week, to coincide with the opening

of a new dedicated Gucci men’s store. The service will initially be

available at Gucci boutiques in Milan, London, Paris, New York,

Tokyo and Sao Paulo. “I am excited and honoured that the Lapo’s

Wardrobe project is being brought to life by Gucci, which is

synonymous for Italian excellence and craftsmanship,” said Elkann.

“It was a great experience to build this capsule collection together

with Frida: we share a love and respect for tradition, yet we are not

afraid to dare and experiment. It is the combination of both that I

believe is exemplified in the pieces we designed and created.”
