New King of the Netherlands


Queen Beatrice, on the throne since 1980, April 30

has abdicated in favor of his son William-Alexander,

who became the new king of Netherlands. 


William is the first king after a hundred years in which

have reigned three queens. For William Alexander’s coronation,

several royal and representatives of many countries came to

Amsterdam. Looking out from the palace’s balcony, decorated

with orange roses and oranges, Beatrice was very excited and

said: “I am happy and grateful to be able to present

your new king, King Willem-Alexander.”
