Oma Knoll x Prada

First glimpsed on the runway for Prada’s

Autumn Winter 2013 menswear collection

back in January the collection, unveiled

today at Fondazione Prada in Milan,  has

been launched to coincide with

Knoll’s 75th anniversary.

Remember those sick sets from that stellar Fall 2013 Prada runway?

You know, the show that made you realize that neither your pad nor

your closet were cool enough to compete in the big leagues of style?

Well, here’s another look at the stars of that set, Knoll’s “Tools for

Life” furniture collection designed by Rem Koolhaas’ OMA, a

collaboration that rings in Knoll’s 75th anniversary with a bang.

Currently on display at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile

furniture fair in Milan, those Prada prototypes turned out to be a

comprehensive collection of tables, chairs, and decorative pieces

made with everyday use in mind, from work to down time, for one

person or a party. That means each piece is functional, with

adjustable heights and uses, so a table goes from dining to bar

height with the flip of a motor or the sleek stacked counter separates

to become three separate surfaces. It’s the stuff you’d expect to find

on a Jetsons set, just fifty years ahead of its time.
