Dior and impressionism
from the 4th of May to the 22sd of September, 2013
Christian Dior Museum and Garden
Villa “Les Rhumbs”
Mounted in Villa Les Rhumbs in Granville, where Christian Dior spent his childhood,
the exhibition will attempt to show how this couturier’s designs were partially linked
to the Impressionist movement.
Christian Dior is set to make a mighty impression at its museum in Granville, France,
this spring and summer. Scores of Impressionist paintings — on loan from the
Musée d’Orsay, the Musée Marmottan Monet and other institutions — are making
their way towards the historic home of the founding designer.
They will be paired with more than 70 Dior dresses that echo the colors, silhouettes
and dreamy femininity of works by Edgar Degas, Georges Seurat, Pierre-Auguste Renoir,
Berthe Morisot and other artists.
