To celebrate its Surf Shack capsule collection
Tommy Hilfiger has created six far-out
limited edition surfboards.
For their new acid-toned collection, the American
label Surf Shack has collaborate with five
contemporary artists part of Art production
fund to create six exclusive surfboards of which
only 89 will be available worldwide.
The five artistic talents were given full control
over the project: Lola Montes Schnabel created
two underwater themed boards, while white stars dance
in a sea of red on the surfboard by Gary Simmons;
a pop art portrait appears on Richard Phillips desig,
black and white reign for Scott Campbell,
and Raymond Pettibon rounds up the collection
with an abstract, multicolored surfboard.
Catch a wave with these totally tubular pieces
or display them at home as a gnarly work of art.
The prepster brand collaborates with
the artists through their foundation,
in the goal of promoting the arts all over the world.
From May 1, a limited number of the boards will be
exhibited at select Tommy Hilfiger stores worldwide.
Customers interested in purchasing the boards will be able
to register their interest ontommy.com/artofsurf. A total
of 89 boards have been produced globally, and they will be
sold for €1500 on a first come, first serve basis. In Europe,
the purchased boards will be available to collect after June 10
at Tommy Hilfiger stores in Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Milan,
London, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Madrid and Stockholm.
