Tilda Swinton stars in the video for David
Bowie’s new single, The Stars (Are Out Tonight).
The track is taken from his highly-anticipated new album, The Next Day,
which will be released on March 11. Swinton appears as Bowie’s wife,
alongside Gaultier favourite Andrej Pejic and Burberry model Saskia De
Brauw – who play a celebrity couple determined to split the happily
married pair apart.
As the song goes on, Swinton takes a more androgynous guise –
bearing a resemblance to the pioneering musician in his younger
years. Floria Sigismondi served as director, while US
cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth shot the video. The track “at
once captures a 21st-Century moment in its convergence of age,
gender and the normal/celebrity divide”, as a statement on
Bowie’s website read.
