Anna Dello Russo's Home by BRYAN BOY

Great news! After 21 years, the adoption agency called. They finally traced my fairy godmother and it’s time for reunification. It turns out, it’s streetstyle blog darling, the ravishing Anna Dello Russo, who is also Vogue Nippon’s Fashion Director at Large.   She invited me for nibbles, a drink and a chat at her gorgeous apartmentafter the spring/summer 2011 D&G menswear show in Milan.

Click click click!

I’ve been extremely lucky and grateful having met some of the mostwonderful  people in the industry but it’s not often I get to spend quality, dedicated time where they live.

From the moment I stepped on her Chanel doormat,I knew I was in for a ride. Anna Dello Russo is a woman whose colossallove for fashion knows no limits. She lives and breathes fashion.

She collects clothes and accessories from the world’s best designersand owns over 4,000 pairs of shoes.

This time around, she showed me two apartments. One is where she lives(by herself and her baby Cucciolina) and the other apartmentis where she store some of her clothes.

Oooh it’s the Balmain! Oooh it’s the Givenchy! Ooooh it’s the Lanvin! It’s amusing how we played ‘guess the designer’when she showed me her precious pieces.

Anna apologized every once in a while for certain placesnot being ‘photogenic’ enough but to me, her apologies were unnecessary. Her apartment is full of life and  full of love! While some people prefer to be minimal and have space,Anna’s apartment was a delightful visual feast;there’s always something see and something to touch in every corner.

Also, whether in chic, black frames or elaborate detailing, hundreds of personal photos are displayed throughout the apartment.
Like the rest of us, also has her own quirks.

She wears Abercrombie fleece tracksuits when flying, she collects mannequin heads and she hoards vintage socks and leggings, dating back from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, all in pristine condition.

Both of her apartments are overflowing with clothes so she storesher luggage and Louis Vuitton pieces inside this massiveantique cabinet in the patio.

In spite of the bold, fashionable exterior that you see in photographs,Anna is incredibly warm, incredibly gracious and incredibly friendly.

We sat down and talked about our careers, our personal histories, how many, many  people want to be a stylist or an editor these days, how fashion can be too political at times, how bloggers brought back the joyand the fun and the celebration in fashion, etc.I told her she’s soo inspirational and she offered to be my life coach…

Anyway, there was something about the way she talked thatwas so mesmerizing. You can instantly feel the passion.I could listen to her for hours.

Truly an inspirational and motivational woman, let me tell you that.
With that being said, feast your eyes…

Thank you so much Anna for opening your doors, welcoming me to your gracious home and for giving me a peek into yourwonderful world. Not only you’re a beautiful and elegant woman onthe outside but you also have a heart and soul made out of gold!It was lovely meeting you at last and I hope to see you again soon.New York!!!! Baci baci ciao ciao! Ti amo!!!

” Dearest BRYANI’m really touched with yourmagnificent MOVIE STILLS about me,CUCCIOLINA and my world!TNKS u from speechless Anna” WHY I LOVE BLOGGERS?Cause they make us IN CONTACTafter years of DEAFNESS in owngolden cells. So today we feel LESS LONELY! Anna

FASHION INDIE INTERVIEW: Anna Dello Russo

For those who don’t know, Anna Dello Russo is the Italianeditor at large & creative consultant for Vogue JAPAN.Street style photographers stalkher wherever she goes as she only wears coutureand outfits once. She’s a  true style icon!
Do you read fashion blogs?
Yes of course!
I started at the beginning of 2010 because of allthis interest in this online digital media, but I always followed Scott (Schuman), Garanceand Tommy Tom since they started.

If so, which are some of your favorites?
My favs are: The Sartorialist, Garance Doré, Jak and Jil,
BryanBoy, Chic Muse, Shelby, All The Pretty Birds, PurpleDiary, Self Service Blog, Style Rookie, The Love Magazine,Swide Magazine, and Scala Regia.
Which fashion shows are not to be missed?
None. I like to see every show.I really enjoy the vibe
when the shows start.
What is the one thing in your closet  that youcan’t live without?
Shoes! I can survive without clothes, but I will die if i don’t get
the right shoes. I collect them I have more than 4,000 pairs ofshoes and if I can wear a Zara dress, I cannot wear cheapshoes.
When in New York, where do you shop?
Because I travel so much I like to shop properly in each
different city. For example US designers in NYC (MarcJacobs, Phi, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, JosephAltuzarra, Rodarte,) French designers in Paris, and Italiandesigners in Milan.
What is the biggest challenge facingfashion editors today?
To not get old! Fashion keeps me young and keeps my eyes
fresh. I have to update myself every morning.  I’m so curious about all the visionary phenomena that changes thecontemporary scenario. I call myself  “the vestal of fashion”because for me fashion is a muse and you must seduce her.  How? You have to feed the creative fire, so it doesn’t vanish.

If you’ve been given a weekend to do anything, anywhere, what would you do?
I love to do intensive workshop of Astanga yoga completed by
a long swim, meditation, and pranayama.
Many consider yourself their fashion icon.Who is yours?
Carine Roitfeld. She has always fascinated me with her
intriguing attitude and her incredible way of dressing.
What advice would you give fashion bloggerswith dreams of becoming magazine editors?
I always say that the visibility is not enough to start in this
profession, it’s  hard work.  You need to assist some editorswith humbleness and devotion for a least 10 years. You mustto do without speaking and with a watchful eyes only to learn.
If you weren’t a fashion editor, what would you be doing?
A Saleswoman. I love buying clothes and I’d  like to be in a
shop dressing up  other women.   Source: FASHION INDIE

“What I love so much about FASHIONis the LIGHTNESS and the ENJOYMENT. Although it’s hard work
after many efforts, must prevail
the spontaneity, the playfulness, the levity. Like at school, after much studyyou have to close the books andyou have to IMPROVISE.
Is not strictly need to learn VERBATIM”.Anna

I would like to express
another concept:
Since I was born I get so much problems
